Discussion: Anyone else doing NaNoWriMo this year?
OK, well. That's good to know. I'll check out the rules and finish up on the editing.
I'm reconsidering whether to launch into NaNo now that I've gotten a new idea. After reading the discussion on Stn. George and the reviews, I'm thinking I might do a sequel in November. That will give me motivation to make a last cleanup pass on Stn.George and then do the same kind of storyteller series in November. I love improvising the stories and will see how that pans out.

I for one whole-heartedly endorse the idea of a sequel to Stn. George. The next best thing to finding a new re-telling of fairy tales is finding one that has sequels. Plus it's way easier for me to just check out new books by authors I know I like then to find new ones. No pressure though, I'd rather see fewer good books then a huge pile of lousy ones.
I'm really looking forward to NaNoWRiMo, this will be my first time signing up. I'm going to do a rewrite a fairytale, which will interest you Elspeth.

I'm planning to do Nano again (finally)! So far, I have no idea what I'm going to write, but now that it's October, I have no excuse to keep procrastinating. =) Hopefully we can get the Afterhours anthology going again next year!
For thoses of you wondering about the After Hours anthology Gck mentions -
There is a very active group of NaNoWriMo participants at a large software company in Redmond, Washington. Several of these writers have collected their books into an anthology and sold them to raise money for Room to Read. Room to Read builds libraries in poor countries around the world. After Hours has done a great job of supporting this worthy cause.

I've signed up (in fact that is how I found this site, from Wazygoose). Are you still Cloister there? I'm Jennifer Mills here, but astraldreamer333 there (confusing I know). It's my first year and I'm writing a sci-fi YA

Yeah, I'm cloister over on the NaNoWriMo site too. I'm doing a YA sci-fi book this year too, so let's add each other as writing buddies!

The Fallen
This is my fourth year doing NaNo. I am tackling a historical fiction novel this year. It's set in middle 18th century (1729-1739) Spain, France and Italy. It is going to be interesting as I'm balancing 2 plotlines that need to keep in sync to some extent. They have to end up coming back together. I'm Sarah E. Biglow on the NaNo site if you want to add me as a writing buddy.

Count me in! I'll be working on a story that I thought up about two months ago. I haven't started writing it yet of course, per the rules of NaNoWriMo, but I'm revved up and ready to go!

And the best part about NaNoWriMo is that you don't need 50,000 good words. I like to treat the month as a free write exercise. That gives me a chance to see what things might work and what won't. Then I, like cloister and many others, spend the next year beating the MSS into a readable book. I think I am going to just make it with getting my previous book done before it is time for me to start this year's.
