I hate to sound like I am beating a dead horse here, but to counteract all the garbage reviews I've been seeing (writing nothing more than the word "next" is NOT a review), I wanted to appreciate those of you who give REAL reviews. Some of the real reviewers on this site have given me all 3's, but at least they backed up why. Forgive me if I forget some of you, but the main three names I'm thinking of are:

Kellywriter Yoshi97 Cloister

To you I raise my glass. You are the people who are not abusing this site. I hope to meet more like you, and all these other one sentence/one word wonders will fade into obscurity.

I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to read and review your excerpt before you removed it from this site. I agree that one-word reviews (whether positive or negative) are not very helpful. I tend to ignore them completely.

I also tend to ignore the rave reviews written by my personal friends and family. I always ask them to be candid and sign in with an alias, but they always sign in with a name I recognize. I guess they want me to know they reviewed my excerpt, but I would rather learn what they honestly liked/disliked about my writing.

I would hate to see a book published on points alone. I guess Long Tale Press has some checks and balances in the final review process to prevent that from happening.

Considering how few friends I have, I'm guessing I'll reach 100 points in the year 2020. By then my 85-year-old mother (who is my biggest fan and best friend) will be dead; and I really wanted her to see me published. Now I'm depressed. Oh well.

Anyway, negative one-word reviews like the ones you received are meanspirited and destructive. I'm sorry you had that experience on this site.
