Summary
Very few know that Hawkfire is a wizard. Destined to be king, he knows that defect would never be accepted. So once the crown is placed on his head, he refuses to be fully either. But neither neglectful king nor reckless wizard will be tolerated for long. Then war, a forced marriage, a little deadly poison and a pirate crew trying to get him up a sorcerously protected river force some changes in Hawk's life. Plotting from the side, a few men find it takes a lot to teach a stubborn man where his destiny lies.
