Summary
Queen Rian Andahar imprisoned the Demon Emperor Tasa behind walls of energy that have stood for a thousand years. But now her barrier is growing weak.
Celeste Andahar has Rian's gift of 'Manipulation'. With her brother Darnel she will be hunted by servants of the Demon Emperor as he strives to complete his purpose.
Deanna Rion is the daughter of King Argentis. As the Demon's return to power threatens to destroy her world, she is protected by the ex-Captain of her father's Elite Guard; Calen Sandoran. Haunted by the ghosts of his past, he is a drunkard fallen from grace.
Zanek Dorvan is the Commander of the Emperor's Corsers. Sent on a mission to retrieve an antique chest known as a ‘Tarnbox’, he will be forced to question his allegiance.
And in the cold North, Tasa sits on his Obsidian throne. His time is coming... soon.
Writer’s Note
This is my first novel, and draws on my love of both Science Fiction (Asimov, Coney, Priest, Heinlein, Cowper, Christopher) and Fantasy (Eddings, Tolkien, Donaldson, Brooks).
The setting for the 'Children of Rian' trilogy is our Earth, many thousands of years into the future. In our time, we discovered the building blocks to creation; a skill known as 'Manipulation' that can change the pattern of DNA from one form to another. Effectively giving our race the power of creation, our world was destroyed and sent hurtling out into the depths of space.
Three genetically modified humans were able to survive the holocaust and eventually brought our world into orbit around a smaller sun in a far galaxy. They restored life, creating first a race of 'Elders' to protect the human race reborn.
Losing his sanity in the destruction of his world, one of these three 'Founders', known simply as 'Tasa' abandons his mantle of guardianship and attempts to corrupt the evolution of the new human race.
