Summary

Antihero Ryerson Goode,spending much time in his room,seeks campus literary greatness, in part to explained doomed love affair with half sister; yet finds time for other afairs with a black dirl,with a magazine editor who turns to lesbianism,and others. He also finds great conflict at home with a crazed mother, and in the ends runs off to Florida with one of his lovers,still seeking elusive literary acclaim.
