This is the best pizza dough recipe. I kept this pizza dough recipe as simple and approachable as possible. It’s made with all-purpose flour (and notes on how to substitute that flour, in case you want to get fancy, no stand mixer needed, and only the most minimal amount of kneading required.

The Best Pizza Dough Recipe

  • 3 1/2 to 4 cups bread flour, plus more for rolling
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 envelope instant dry yeast
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1 1/2 cups water, 110 degrees F
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil, plus 2 teaspoons

  1. Combine the bread flour, sugar, yeast and kosher salt in the bowl of a stand mixer and combine.
  2. While the mixer is running, add the water and 2 tablespoons of the oil and beat until the dough forms into a ball.
  3. If the dough is sticky, add additional flour, 1 tablespoon at a time, until the dough comes together in a solid ball.
  4. If the dough is too dry, add additional water, 1 tablespoon at a time. Scrape the dough onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead into a smooth, firm ball.
  5. Grease a large bowl with the remaining 2 teaspoons olive oil, add the dough, cover the bowl with plastic wrap and put it in a warm area to let it double in size, about 1 hour.
  6. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and divide it into 2 equal pieces. Cover each with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap and let them rest for 10 minutes.

  8. Using bread flour will give you a much crisper crust. If you can't find bread flour, you can substitute it with all-purpose flour which will give you a chewier crust.

  • 1-2 teaspoons cornmeal for sprinkling
  • Olive oil for brushing
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 3 tablespoons all purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • salt to taste
  • 1 cup shredded, cooked chicken breasts
  • 1/3 cup thinly sliced red onions
  • 2/3 cup shredded Mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tablespoon minced fresh oregano
  • 1 tablespoon minced fresh chives
  • 1 tablespoon minced fresh parsley

  1. Preheat oven to 500 degrees F with pizza stone, if using. Sprinkle cornmeal over baker's peel or parchment.
  2. Roll pizza dough into a 14 inch circle, place on prepared baker's peel, and brush the edge with olive oil.
  3. Add butter to a small saucepan and melt over medium heat. Once melted, add the garlic and cook until just fragrant, 30 seconds to 1 minute.
  4. Whisk in the flour and pepper and cook until golden. Continue whisking and slowly pour in the milk. Bring to a simmer and cook, stirring often, until thickened. Remove from heat and stir in Parmesan, salt, and pepper.
  5. Spread about 1/2 cup sauce over prepared pizza dough, enough for a thin layer. Sprinkle chicken and onions over the pizza. Cover with mozzarella.
  6. Transfer the pizza to pizza stone using baker's peel or parchment. Bake until crust is golden and cheese is bubbly, 10-12 minutes.
  7. Remove from oven and let cool about 5 minutes before topping with fresh herbs and slicing. Serve with remaining white sauce.

  • 2 -3 tsp sriràchà or other chili sàuce
  • 1/2 tsp gàrlic powder or gàrlic pàste
  • 1 cup cubed firm or super firm tofu pressed
  • Other toppings:
  • sliced onions
  • sliced red bell peppers
  • pàstà/màrinàrà sàuce or use more bbq sàuce às bàse
  • Use my àlmond Milk Pepper Jàck or other vegàn cheese shreds


  1. Màrinàte the bbq Tofu: Càst the curd in pàcking towels heàled by àssistànce or reàdy pressed in kitchen towel under à 10 lb unit for 15 mins. àdd the sàuces, flàvourer ànd pressed tofu in à bàll ànd let sit until ripe to use.
